The language of the Canaries is Spanish (Castilian), but the accent and dialect of Canarian people is more like the Spanish spoken in the Caribbean and South American countries which differs from the Spanish on Spain.
The currency is Euro.
In Tenerife the current used is 220 Volts AC 50Hz, which is the same all over the Canaries. Plugs have two pins, identical to Europe. f you are travelling from the UK, it may be useful to bring an adaptor with you. Visitors from the USA will also need a voltage converter.
The Canary Islands use Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). This means the time zone is the same as the UK while Spain and other European countries are one hour ahead.
Tenerife's renowned climate - with a year round average temperature of 22 degrees centigrade - creates what is affectionately known as Tenerife’s "eternal spring.”
Tenerife is a Spanish territory and therefore all passport and residency rules are the same as on Spanish mainland. A passport valid for three months beyond the length of stay and issued within the past 10 years is required by all nationals listed in the chart except (1) EU nationals holding a passport or national ID card which is valid for the duration of stay. Note that Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Ireland, Romania and the UK are not part of the Schengen area, so a passport or ID card is required if travelling to/from these countries
